Windows XP May no Longer Available With Microsoft Organisation

Microsoft to stop support for Windows XP on April 8, 2014 Microsoft’s one of the most popular operating system running desktop computer systems, will stop getting any support from the company after April 2014. “Support for Windows XP is ending on April 8, 2014. There's no better time than now to get a new Windows 8.1 PC”, says the Redmond giant. This means the company will no more provide technical
assistance for Windows XP, there will be no automatic updates to help protect the PC.

The Win XP is almost a decade old software, and is very popular because of its simple user interface, easy multiple  windows handing feature and utility applications. The company now requests users to upgrade it to Windows 8.1 to avoid vulnerabilities due to security risks and viruses.

In India that Windows XP still has a penetration of 40-70 percent (34115 Indian PSU bank branches) within the banking and psu sector as per a study conducted by Ascentius Consulting.
This report titled “Strategic Impact of End of Support of Windows XP on Banks in India”, says
that banks could see a loss of income to the tune of Rs. 300 Crore over a period of 3 days – given that it takes that long for a major incident to be resolved and the system to be up and functioning normally, reports ComputerWorld.

According to a news in a leading Indian newspaper, 52 per cent of computers in banks, 30 per cent in
government offices, 26 per cent in manufacturing companies and 26 percent in software firms run this
operating system, Microsoft sources inform. This move will impact these offices much harder than others.
Amrish Goyal, General Manager,Windows Business Group, Microsoft Corporation (India) have said, “with
100 days left, the security threat is going to get worse [for the un-supported OS users].”
For those who are on this old version of operating system, they need to shift to the new OS soon. We will
bring you how can you shift to this.
